Technical (tec) diving means going beyond recreational scuba diving limits. But, tec divers will tell you that it’s really about the challenge and adventure of exploring places that no one else has ever seen. Tec diving is not for everyone, but it does attract experienced divers who want to go beyond their current limits and are willing to accept the added risks, training, investment and commitment it demands. If this is you, then PADI TecRec courses are your ticket to extreme adventure.

Technical scuba diving involves going beyond recreational scuba diving limits and includes one or more of the following:

Diving beyond 40 meters/130 feet

  • Required stage decompression
  • Diving in an overhead environment beyond 40 linear metres/130 linear feet of the surface
  • Accelerated decompression and/or the use of variable gas mixtures during the dive
  • Use of extensive equipment and technologies

In technical diving the surface is often inaccessible in an emergency, so tec divers use extensive procedures, equipment and training to manage the added risks and potential hazards.

Below you'll find the PADI TEC course we are teaching at Absolut Diving Phuket Thailand - all the prices include the diving gear, standard gases, course materials, certification fees as well as pool and boat dives. At Absolut Diving we want you to get the best TEC education, so we don't leave it with the required amount of dives, No / we ad 2 or more dives with each course. That gives you and us the freedom of going more into detail and have more diving fun! The only thing which we would have to charge for is Helium for you and your instructor, our rate is 2thb per liter.

PADI TEC SIDEMOUNT DIVER

If you’ve looked into technical diving, you realize that tec divers always wear more than one tank. Sidemount is an increasingly popular way to configure multiple cylinders for technical diving. You can enter the world of tec diving with the Tec Sidemount Diver course and apply what you learn to other TecRec courses. You can also integrate this course with the Tec 40, Tec 45 or Tec 50 courses.

You’ll learn about the advantages of diving with a sidemount configuration and how to set up a tec sidemount harness. You’ll get hands-on training during one confined water session and four open water dives where you’ll start with two tanks and add at least two more, maybe even getting to six sidemounted cylinders.

If you’re a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 30 logged dives, you qualify to enroll in a Tec Sidemount Diver course. It’s recommended that you also have a PADI Enriched Air Diver certification.
